About this bottle

The Jameson Deconstructed Series, introduced in 2016, explores different facets of the production of their standard whiskies. Master Distiller Brian Nation identified three primary elements of Jameson's signature flavor profile: Bold, Lively, and Round, selecting specific casks to accentuate each. Bold highlights the contribution of pot-still whiskey, made from malted and unmalted barley, to Jameson's characteristic taste. This triple-distilled expression is bottled at 40% ABV and is exclusively available in Global Travel Retail.

Denny Weller 4.0

This is my second review of a Jameson "Deconstructed Series" expression, this time focusing on their "Bold" version. I had anticipated this would be the least enjoyable of the trio, given how excellent the "Round" was and that "Lively" was described as "elegant and Floral, with citrusy lightness, like a soft breeze." Let me spoil it for you: "Lively" was the only one I didn't care for; this "Bold" expression was quite decent. The aroma is standard, progressing from very faint to "pleasant" after several minutes. You first perceive fresh fields, grain whiskey, and a hint of alcohol. Next, there's an artificial citrus note, like lemon or lime. It's quite spicy, like potent black pepper. The nose is intensely spicy. Waiting five minutes reveals a hint of cotton or sugar. Allowing it to aerate releases sweeter notes such as orange cough syrup, cinnamon, and apples. The overall aroma seems muted and indistinct, predominantly spicy. Bubble gum aroma emerges after two sips. On the palate, you encounter an immediate spice explosion, though not unpleasant or overwhelming. Notes of chili and cinnamon are present. It doesn't taste grainy at all. It's not oily or thick, just spicy. The finish, much like the "Round" expression, is outstanding. A pleasant, clean bubble gum aftertaste. It precisely resembles bubble gum with cinnamon. The finish is confirmed as the highlight of this series (I believed this before tasting the "Lively" expression). It's actually quite good. The bubble gum note is identical to the one found in Bubble Tape. It has a medium length. Overall, the finish makes this spicy dram quite interesting. It's a standard dram, but that finish makes the bottle worth purchasing. 80 out of 100.

Nichole Morey 3.0

Aroma: red apples, vanilla, and cinnamon. Taste: sweet, lightly spiced. Red apples again. Banana? Other (more aroma than taste) -With water- Aroma: Same as above but apples and cinnamon are more prominent. Taste: less spicy. A few more nuances.

Adelyn Mcintire 2.8

The aroma is like freshly harvested pumpkin. The flavor is weak with a slight fruity taste and mild spice, which contradicts the bold description on the label. However, it goes down very smoothly, as one would expect from the Jameson brand.

Leslie Fortner 3.0

Better than spirited, not as good as well-rounded. Plenty of spice and a burning aftertaste.

Antwan Sawyer 3.8

Really enjoyed the banana/vanilla aroma and the apple/barley taste

Wilfred Stovall 4.0

From the 2019 advent calendar. Smells of banana, tastes of oak and banana.
