About this bottle

The Hickory Smoked Finish variant of Jack Daniel's Whiskey involves fully matured whiskey being finished with charred hickory staves. This bottling was one of the initial releases in the limited edition, experimental Jack Daniel's Tennessee Tasters' Selection series, with selections made by the company's master tasters. Master taster Marsha Hale chose this edition. Approximately 24,000 375ml bottles were produced. It was available starting in late October 2018 at the distillery and select Tennessee retailers.

The distillery does a commendable job with their "craft" spirits. They are always quite distinctive and worth purchasing. This particular one evokes the taste of a barbecue potato chip and offers notes reminiscent of sitting around a campfire. Highly intriguing. I employ the rating system outlined below. The distillery uses a 5-point scale, while I use a 10-point scale, but I trust you're not too impaired to do the conversion! 1. Abysmal - So poor I discarded it. 2. Unsatisfactory - I would avoid consuming it by choice. 3. Flawed - Possesses numerous imperfections. 4. Subpar - Not terrible, but I have many preferred options. 5. Average - Meets expectations. 6. Above Average - Superior to the norm. 7. Commendable - Significantly better than average. 8. Exceptional - Stands in a class of its own. 9. Outstanding - A personal all-time favorite. 10. Flawless

Smells of campfire smoke and alcohol. I was worried the palate would be like burning bananas, but it's a gentle smoke and caramel taste. The finish is average. An excellent drink for autumn evenings outdoors. It tastes and smells like marshmallows being roasted and a family bonfire.

Inviting aroma of hickory smoke. It's exceedingly smooth with a pleasant smoky taste and a profound warmth. Superior to Old No. 7, yet the price point is questionable.
