Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Heritage Barrel Tennessee Whiskey

The complex aroma presents milk chocolate, cherry, nougat, fig, date, plum, scorched caramel, maple, nutmeg, and gentle, sweet, toasted oak. The alcohol is hardly noticeable. This is excellent. The taste delivers pipe tobacco, the milk chocolate, maple, and caramel from the aroma, maraschino cherry, cola, toffee, marshmallow, and just a whisper of that familiar banana candy flavor. There's also an underlying savory note (soy sauce?) that adds a unique character. It's surprising not to detect vanilla, but that's fine. It's very intricate and quite full-bodied, though I felt it could have used a bit more alcohol content to provide extra impact, given how delicious the flavors are. The medium-length conclusion offers tea leaf, leather, browned sugar, barrel char, malt, and toasted oak. It's interesting that there's no noticeable heat or spice like cinnamon or black pepper, which is common in many other spirits. It's distinctive. The texture is medium-bodied yet incredibly smooth. That's a plus. The marshmallow essence remains, which is also fantastic. Amazing. This is unquestionably the finest product from the distillery I've ever experienced. It's defined more by its absences than its presence; a dull vanilla/caramel taste followed by a spicy finish (boring). It deviates from the norm in the best possible ways. For the price, it's a fantastic deal. It's been a bit of a discovery locally, but if it stays accessible, I'll always keep a bottle stocked.

TASING NOTES - Rich and luxurious with a silky texture. The taste includes sweet wood, caramel, and banana. AFTERTASTE - Lingering and gentle. Absolutely no heat. SHOULD I GET IT? - Absolutely. It retains its signature Jack character, yet offers considerably more flavor complexity. It's very approachable. WORTH ANOTHER PURCHASE? - Definitely. I spent $70 at retail and I would cap my spending at $80.

The aroma is pleasant, reminiscent of other toasted whiskies: banana bread heavy on cinnamon, maple sugar, baking spices, and somewhat like mulled wine (though I don't drink it). However, the palate is disappointing. It has some green banana notes, common in Jack, and a hint of the cinnamon banana bread, but it's overwhelmed by a lingering nail polish remover astringency that spoils it for me.

Barrel # 25-04115 7.7.17 entry, 7.18.25 bottled. 8 years old. Nose: creamy marshmallow, faint citrus and hay, plus corn. Palate: starts with sweet cola, sweet corn, a touch of anise, but a very strong cola flavor. Mid-palate has more texture and marshmallow, coffee. More coffee with caramel and vanilla in the finish, bringing in subtle tannins. Well-balanced, smooth, very well executed.

Nose: Intense oak and vanilla, with a faint trace of smoke at the end. Very classic and sweet. Taste: Starts quite delicate on the palate, then delivers a strong wave of oak, dark cherry, and vanilla. Barrel spice tingles the sides of the tongue before settling heavily on the palate. Finish: Toasted vanilla and robust oak create a long, full-bodied finish.

Nose: soft, like powdered sugar with a hint of banana. Palate: notes of toasted caramel, sweet brown sugars, and a touch of semi-sweet chocolate. It surprised me compared to the usual Jack Daniel's profile, but it's fantastic, just like all other Jack Daniel's products. It outperformed Woodford Double Oaked and Peerless Double Oaked in my blind tasting.
