Dayton Somers 4.0

Aroma- a tad muted. Smokey marshmallow and graham cracker Palate- upon entry this is like a chewy s'mor! Graham cracker, chocolate, and marshmallow transition to fresh maple syrup with a bit of heat. There is a pizza dough/rising yeast flavor in the background that is subtle. Not off putting, but adding different layer. This does not taste like a traditional JD product. Finish- Long with a smokey cherrywood. Think smoked old fashioned here. It is very nice and even throughout Overall- This is right up there or might even surpass Michter's toasted bourbon. They got the proof 100% correct as this needs nothing but a glass. An unsung hero among a sea of toasted barrel wannabees.

Clair Field 4.3

This drink is excellent. Initially, I notice heavy brown sugar, a hint of butterscotch, and banana. It has a very long finish, an oily mouthfeel, and a pleasant smoke note from the toasting rounds it out. I haven't enjoyed many toasted whiskies, but this one is fantastic. 93 out of 100.

Archie Hillman 3.8

Among the finest low-proof bourbons around the $50 mark I've encountered. Bold flavors and a robust finish. Unlike the typical banana notes from JD, this has more cinnamon. Updated to average. It's one of the rare bourbons I've tried that deteriorated after it had a chance to breathe.
