Islay Gold 12 Year Sherry Cask Single Malt Scotch

An intense Scotch from Islay, Scotland, aged twelve years in oak and then finished in sherry casks. It opens aromatically with notes of grain, dried fruit, wood, and spice; its balanced middle layer reveals barley and tree fruit characteristics; concluding with a smoky, medium-length finish touched by oak and peat smoke. Sixth day of the advent calendar. Sampled neat. The aroma is very fruity with hints of leather and dried fruit. The sherry influence is certainly present. On the palate, it's spicy with notes of high-grade tobacco, wood, grain, peat, and smoke. It's intensely smoky on the palate.
