A present from my brother. Very weak, with an almost diluted upfront flavor. I only noticed bitter apples in the finish, which strangely appeared before I'd even finished swallowing my sip. I genuinely tried to finish the entire bottle, but eventually, it was used in a reduction for an exceptionally tasty sausage and peppers dish my wife made. That's where the 1.0 rating originated. Tasted neat. My brother? We're no longer communicating.

About this bottle
Iron Smoke is a collaboration between musician Tommy Brunett and distiller Drew Wescott, based in Fairport, New York. Brunett aimed to enhance the whiskey's flavor by smoking the grains—corn, rye, wheat, and pre-smoked barley—over applewood before milling and mashing. The whiskey is aged in new, triple-charred American oak and finished with local spring water. Production of this product ceased in 2018.

This was a solid bourbon overall, but it lacks the refinement of others easily found for a comparable price. The low proof (40%) is a bit on the dull side. Is it smooth? Absolutely, but that comes at the expense of complexity and, honestly, enjoyment. There's simply not much to discuss. It's bourbon, and that's the extent of it.
The aroma has a lot of apple wood, plus vanilla and smoke. On the palate, it's sweeter than anticipated - like sugary sweet. It tastes like an apple pie with frosting. I might have preferred it to be less sweet and smoother here. But regardless, it's an interesting bourbon to try.
A great whiskey, smooth, smoky, and a little sweet. For a regular drinker, the price is a bit hard to justify, but it's worth trying now if you can find it since it's been discontinued.
Not to my taste. Smoky but not unpleasant. An unusual aftertaste I can't quite identify. I'd skip buying a bottle. Glad someone shared it with me.
Smells like sweet marshmallow. Tastes like nothing, very little flavor, bitter with a marshmallow finish. Where is the smoke??
