Produced at NOM 1489 Destileria Leyros, S.A. de C.V., Hussong's Platinum Añejo Tequila is crafted from 100% blue weber agave and twice distilled in stainless steel stills. It is aged for 15 months in bourbon barrels before being filtered to achieve a clear appearance. Packaged in clay jugs with cork seals to evoke the spirit of the Baja California Peninsula, it is bottled at 40% ABV.

While it's somewhat interesting to have a clear Añejo, it was completely unnecessary. I feel distinct flavors and aromas were sacrificed for a unique appearance. The flavor profile was quite flat compared to a standard añejo. The tequila's sharpness is very prominent due to the lack of other characteristics. I bought this on sale because of its appealing bottle. I have since realized that was a poor decision.
When warm, the nose is pure vanilla frosting, sharply contrasting with the clean, herbal, almost minty taste. It's definitely a step down from the añejo.
Sweet aroma, with absolutely no alcohol burn. The finish has a subtle hint of oak. Sweet berry notes on the palate
A mild burn on the first sip. You can truly discern the vanilla notes. A decent sipping tequila.
This is one of my preferred sipping tequilas. Very clean and delicious!
