Conrad Champagne 2.8

Tasted at Battery Point Distillery in Hobart on Monday, August 10th, 2024. Gin #1 (Tasting #5). Nose: Citrus, cherry. Palate: Sweet plums, orange, a hint of lemon sherbet, vanilla. Very little juniper and the mouthfeel is somewhat thin. Finish: Short. Mild baking spice and berry. This was our fifth tasting at Battery Point Distillery, which sells its gin under the brand name House of Lenna. My overall impression was unremarkable. It didn't impress me, and I couldn't imagine buying it for sipping over ice, as a mixer, or for any other purpose. It wasn't bad, just completely forgettable, and it's also the most expensive sloe gin I've encountered, not justifying the price. Producing gin is a common strategy for new distilleries to generate revenue quickly while their whisky matures. Besides this sloe gin, Battery Point also offers a London Dry style, a flavored pink gin, and a barrel-aged gin. "Average": 78/100 (2.75 stars)
