Hotel Tango Rye, Ready to Drink

Opened two months ago. The aroma has notes of Pine Sol, lemon custard, freshly cut grass, butterscotch, juniper berry, and moderate ethanol. On the palate, expect lemon bars, lemon custard, citrus-scented cleaning products, a hint of dill, and light ethanol that glides smoothly across the tongue. The finish is medium-short, with a touch of rye pepper spice, pine sap, and lemon custard. I received a sample from a friend, whose wife bought it in Virginia without any prior knowledge. I was quite doubtful due to the lengthy name and complicated label, thinking it was likely overpriced, young, sourced rye. However, it's surprisingly decent. If you appreciate the lemony and pine characteristics in rye, you might enjoy this. It resembles a younger Old Scout Rye, but with a strong household cleaner element. This emerging distillery might produce some excellent spirits in the future, considering this 2-year-old rye they are making or sourcing.

It's the middle of December, and I'm planning to explore a new rye whiskey daily for the remainder of the month. While my proficiency with rye isn't as lacking as my Scotch skills were last year, I'm always open to recommendations for excellent rye whiskies. With some defined objectives, there are particular bottles I require assistance locating. Present me with your most potent suggestion. Objectives (condensed): Five ryes. Rated 4.5 stars. Easily obtainable. (3/5, WT101, Whistlepig 10, Whistlepig 12) I aim to differentiate between any bourbon and any rye. First attempt. One of these must be an Empire Rye. I desire a bold rye. I want the one that mimics accidentally using the pour side of crushed red pepper instead of the shake side, yet still consuming the pasta.

An excellent narrative and a superb rye. The heat is well-integrated throughout. It possesses substantial flavor for a young rye. Initial notes of caramel and rye transition to flavors of burnt caramel and leather. The finish is of moderate length but pleasing, with a touch of bitterness. It would be enjoyable sipped neat or in a mixed drink.

A gift, shared with and from a friend. The aroma is sharp and pungent, with a rye spice scent and a touch of caramel. The taste is extremely young and green – a decent whiskey, but it seems to require additional aging. Quite unpleasant on its own; I would prefer it in a mixed drink.

Nose: Sweetness, caramel, vanilla, a hint of apricot. Palate: Intense, tastes as though vermouth is already included. Overall: My preferred of the group; this is excellent on its own and will be superb in a Sazerac.

It is acceptable if you appreciate mint-forward ryes, but there are certainly better options available for the price. Notes of mint, baking spice, and caramel sweetness. It is quite straightforward and lacks complexity, nor is it particularly viscous.
