Anaya Navarro 4.0

The aroma is subtle yet intricate, featuring notes of tobacco, anise, aged wood, Sarsaparilla, ground rye, buttery toast, and cocoa. Alcohol is completely absent. It's quite captivating. The taste echoes the nose closely, with the Sarsaparilla/root beer essence from the scent taking prominence. Additionally, there's leather, fruitcake, charred marshmallow, syrupy pipe tobacco, butterscotch, toffee, and crystallized ginger. A whisper of grape from the secondary barrel adds a pleasing dimension. The tastes are full-bodied for its alcohol content. The finish evolves gradually, extending the palate's profile while introducing cinnamon sugar, ash, sweet wood, and a faint touch of spice. The texture is slick but lively, delivering a sensation akin to "Pop Rocks." Quite unconventional; if sampled without knowing what it was, I'd never guess it was a rye. All things considered, a rather enjoyable drink. At $100, it won't be a regular purchase, but I can't argue it's not worth the cost, as that high price grants significant complexity and originality with no apparent imperfections. I might get it again... eventually.

Derek Severson 4.3

The aroma has a lot of spearmint, and the palate has mild mint and rose.
