Ivory Mcadams 4.5

Recently, I've been sampling some of the finest Highland Park releases, which is quite remarkable considering the distillery has faced criticism for releasing too many expressions lately, not all of which have been well-received by critics. I've actually had this bottle, a Cask Strength, 58% ABV expression called 'Orkney Rowing Club,' unopened for several years. It's a limited edition of 4000 bottles commemorating this renowned club, which embodies the Viking tradition of sailing and rowing to discover new lands and adventures. The nose begins with a delightful pineapple and toffee note, followed by coffee, pineapple pie, dark chocolate, and liquid paper. Apricots appear later. After the first sip, the aroma shifts to povidone, white chocolate, and milk formula. Very pleasant. On the palate, it's a bit straightforward but delicious. Oranges and chocolate are present, combined with a potent and citrusy red chili. Creme Brulee is also noticeable. The aftertaste is excellent. It has a kick. Notes of impalpable sugar, cider, and hard toffee so sweet it's almost overwhelming. Overall, this was a very enjoyable Highland Park, thoroughly discussed by everyone at my tasting event, and we all loved it. The high ABV allows for very clean and refined notes to emerge, making it a truly enjoyable dram. My score is 95 out of 100. A fantastic single malt, highly recommended.
