High West Old Fashioned Barrel Finish Cocktail

This is a classic old fashioned made with High West's straight rye and straight bourbon. It's delicious. I'm usually not a cocktail person, but I was curious to try the bottle since the price was reasonable. It completely exceeded my expectations. With a lemon and orange twist garnish, this old fashioned tasted better than any other old fashioned I've ever had. High West products are always impressive. I plan to let some friends try it this coming weekend and will update this with their thoughts too. Correction: they used Used Rye Barrels

A fantastic rye, but a terrible mixer. This is extremely sweet. Next time, I'll combine it 50/50 with a High West rye.

Excessively sweet initially, with a sharp heat from the MGP sourced rye. Notes of honey, orange, and lemon are present.

Sweet, yet it's 86 proof!
