A potent Rye Whiskey aged in fresh, burned American white oak, then rested in previously used barrels, finally bottled at 92 proof. It begins with a fragrant bouquet of grain, wood, botanicals & warming spices; its robust & powerful middle section presents flavors of rye, vanilla & oak, concluding with a prolonged & fiery finish of tobacco, cinnamon & nutmeg. Smells sweet and spicy. Vanilla is clearly present in the aroma. The taste is spicy with a lingering finish. The profile is not very polished. The vanilla isn't coming through as I'd hoped. It's just adequate.
A sweet vanilla note lies beneath the rye spice; they complement each other very well. The long, pleasant finish allows the spice to linger.
