Hawaiian Moonshine Okolehao

This spirit isn't widely produced outside of this specific product, which is also quite rare, and I appreciate that. It has a distinct vegetal flavor, almost like a drinkable aftershave – which is better than it sounds. Imagine Chartreuse. My main issue is the intense burn on the finish, accompanying the taro root taste. I haven't tried it in a mixed drink yet, but I suspect it would be difficult to balance the very prominent alcohol, the subtle vegetal notes, and the other ingredients.

Very potent, but it has a lovely sweetness accompanying it. The smell is a lot of alcohol, but just a top note of sweetness and somewhat artificial. With a bit of water added, the aftertaste becomes much smoother and the burn subsides. This would be excellent for some really interesting mixed drinks. The dry glass smell is very syrupy. The harsh alcohol scent disappears, leaving a beautiful bouquet of sweets.
