Crisp apple with subtle phenolic and smoky pear notes. Diluting with water and letting it rest for 25-35 minutes enriches the aroma, bringing out more honey and rich apple pie scents, reminiscent of the malt mash at the Hakushu distillery. It's exceptionally smooth and delicate, especially after waiting and adding water. I really wish I had a bottle of this; I had it at the Yamazaki and Hakushu distilleries for 2900 yen per serving.
Smell: Roasted black tea, botanical, deep caramelized sugars, mint candy, roasted hazelnuts. Taste: Black pepper spice, very mild oaky peat, botanical spicy mint, deep toffee, slightly bitter dark chocolate. Aftertaste: Botanical sweetness, roasted sweet hazelnuts/chestnuts with burnt skins, hint of dark chocolate remains. Rating - 91/100
Nose: toffee, apple. Palate: mature fruity sweetness, mild alcoholic sensation, possible floral notes, very smooth. Finish: long, oaky, very smooth, fruity sweetness. Overall: An excellent, sweet, smooth whisky with potentially floral, soapy notes?
Aroma: smoke, marshmallow, white rabbit milk candy, ripe red apple, a mix of fresh flowers. Taste: vanilla custard, lavender, herbs, mild spice. Finish: long, slightly smoky.
I was fortunate to sample this and... amazing. Delightful sherry notes and wood smoke. So well-rounded and lingering. This is truly a magnificent whisky. I wish I had one!
