Hai Seas San Oaks

This single malt from China, made by Hai Seas Distillery, uses malted barley and was matured in used bourbon casks, bottled at a mild 42% alcohol. It opens with gentle flavors of barley, wood, orchard fruits, botanicals, and warming spices. A lightly creamy mid-palate brings notes of cooked apple, berry, nectar, and sweet vanilla caramel, finishing with a harmonious touch of wood, spice, and cinnamon.

Mile dark amber hue, exhibiting minimal to no legs/tears on the glass. A light fruity aroma intertwines with a solvent-like scent. Quite smooth, with sweet toffee flavors throughout. Considerably sweet for a whiskey.

Clear golden amber body with thin legs. Aroma of honey, toffee, caramel, and vanilla. Flavors of sweet honey, vanilla, toffee, and fruit. Medium light body with moderate warming. Scored 3.8/5.
