Grand Mayan - Tequila Extra Añejo

This copper pot distilled Agave Spirit from NOM 1137 was matured for five years in oak. The nose offers agave, wood, and nut scents. The palate develops with hints of copper, caramel, and coconut, finishing with a subtle oak presence. April 2016 / April 2017 / March 2018

This definitely has a pleasant wood character. The cognac barrels contribute some pleasing fruit and sweetness, bordering on orange. There's a slight smoky hint, probably from the wood. It concludes with a satisfying saltiness and a significant earthy taste. Smooth all around.
