Goodridge & Williams Northern Grains

Nose: Sugared fruits and fruit-flavored candy (watermelon, strawberries, lime), malty semi-dark milk chocolate, sweet toasted oak, light caramel, mild spices (cinnamon, sweet paprika), some candied caramel red apple, a touch of sweet modeling clay/play-doh, some citrus (lime wedge, lemon wedge, fresh sliced orange), an earthy hint of nutty woodiness, a bit of floury grain mustiness, some whole wheat bread, a French toast hazelnut coffee aroma, a whisper of white pepper, a touch of unripe stone fruit (peach, pear, apricot), mild sherry notes, light herbal notes of oregano, spearmint, and basil, sweet tea, a hint of Canadian maple, some creamy vanilla. Palate: Fresh green apples, green paprika, candied caramel red apple, cinnamon, black pepper, some sweet tea, barrel tannins, hints of sherry grape notes, sour cherry, sourdough, tart grapes, a touch of oak, some fresh caramel and vanilla. Finish: Oak and grain sweetness, a faint cola note, a little deep red wine in the background, blood orange peel, herbal/botanical bitterness, some white pepper.

Northern Grains is an artisanal whisky crafted from a mash of winter wheat and malted barley sourced from Northern British Columbia. It undergoes aging in American oak bourbon barrels for a minimum of three years and is finished in French oak wine casks from BC’s Okanagan Valley. This exceptionally smooth whisky is non-chill filtered and offers notes of dried stone fruit, toasted wood, and cherry.

Nose - some wine notes detected. Body - toasted nuts and a bit of honey. Finish - maple syrup and just a hint of toasted marshmallow. This tastes less Canadian than many I've tried tonight. Perhaps this is due to the sherry finish.

It has notes of nuts, cocoa, spice, fruit, and caramel. The finish brings a sweet impression of red wine and desiccated fruit.

Earthy, sugary, coffee, sweet, some wood influence, chocolate on the finish, very little burn.

Notes of flowers, raspberry, caramel, oak, vanilla, marzipan, and nuts.
