Golden Moon Colorado Single Malt Whiskey

Appearance: This single malt from Colorado presents a deep caramel gold hue, with slender, semi-watery legs that slowly make their way back down the glass. Nose: Initially, the aroma is charred and unusual. As it opens, scents emerge like grass, straw, hay, honey, purple clover blossoms, melted caramel, cinnamon toast with maple syrup, graham crackers, and brown sugar. Palate: The taste begins with an unexpected heat and burn that persists throughout. Within the intensity, I detected notes of barrel spices, corn, caramel candies, dark plum, clove, and a mintiness reminiscent of a mint julep. Finish: The finish starts with spice for a time, then concludes with a dry, woody sensation. Thoughts: I am sampling from "Cask 2" of this whiskey. Personally, I find the aroma delightful and could enjoy smelling it for an extended period. The taste, while not bad, is simply more intense than I prefer and distracts from the flavors. Aside from that, it's a solid American single malt. Much appreciation to Golden Moon! Cheers!
