After numerous reviews, I've finally sampled an expression from the world's longest-operating distillery. This Glenturret 7yo is a limited, peated bottling. On the nose, I detect lemon and peat, reminiscent of lemon pie, meringue, and sawdust. The palate mirrors this profile with lemon, cigarette smoke, gunpowder, and ashes. On a subsequent taste, it thins out slightly, revealing vanilla. The finish is dominated by cigarettes, ashes, lemon, and vanilla meringue. Overall, a well-balanced and accessible whisky, not overly complex, earning an 84 out of 100 in my estimation.
