Glenlivet Triple Cask Matured White Oak Reserve

From Glenlivet's travel retail lineup, this Triple Cask Matured White Oak Reserve is pleasant, but it certainly could have benefited from more depth. It's bottled at 40%abv with a golden hue. The aroma is quite vibrant. Notes of gooseberries, apricot, honey, toffee, and abundant vanilla are present. The taste echoes the nose. Coconut, honey, and dulce de leche come through, along with a hint of pepper, sulphur, and oak spice. A subtle, ghost-like cider note lingers in the background. The finish is somewhat brief and feels youthful, though not unpleasant. It offers notes of hay and honey, alongside tobacco leaf, salt, and oak spice. Ultimately, this expression prominently showcases white oak. Interestingly, I've found I'm not particularly fond of some whiskies labeled as triple matured; I've sampled spirits with numerous finishes (five, six, or even seven) that aren't as heavily oaked or woody as most "triple matured" examples tend to be. I believe this is a very smooth and approachable dram, suitable for any occasion, but its conventional profile makes it less captivating. The familiar vanilla, toffee, and spice notes are delivered in a very standard manner, lacking anything exceptional. My rating is 78 out of 100.

What a fantastic taster I eagerly awaited all day at work to begin my vacation! Advent box Dec 3rd. On the nose I detect notes of vanilla, caramel, apricot, dates, oak, plums, and honey. On the palate it’s smooth and somewhat sweet initially, then quickly becomes earthy and nutty, followed by warmth, with a tobacco kick at the end.

It starts with a menthol and peppery spice. The aroma is not very pronounced, and the fruit flavors don't really stand out. It's surprisingly peated! A decent option for those new to whiskey.

Aroma: sweet, sherry, vanilla, gelatin, cotton candy. Flavor: smooth, sweet, caramel, then some tobacco. Aftertaste: smooth.

Tastes like green apple caramel, very similar to a lollipop. I like it; it's not overly complex but has many enjoyable flavor notes.

Very straightforward and sweet. There are hints of pear, but not much else. It's drinkable and smooth, but not particularly remarkable.
