Glenlivet 14 Year Sherry Cask Matured (Taiwan Exclusive)

Remarkable tale. While staying at a friend's place in Scotland, the owner offered me access to the initial three shelves of an impressive collection of whiskies. My selection was an unusual-looking Glenlivet 13yo, its liquid nearly black from extensive sherry aging. It was life-altering. This particular bottling was a 13-year-old Glenlivet, sherry cask matured and exclusively for Taiwan. In the subsequent years, I managed to acquire over ten bottles of it, with just one remaining. Subsequently, I learned of a 15-year-old release from the same sherry cask matured series for Taiwan. I obtained several bottles of that one too. Both of these expressions were, to me, a flawless 100-point dram. Now, can you imagine what I've discovered? THE 14-YEAR-OLD GLENLIVET SHERRY CASK MATURED FOR TAIWAN. Packaged at 40% alcohol by volume, it boasts the deepest red hue imaginable; Dracula himself might mistake it for blood. Upon nosing, an astonishing bouquet emerges: red fruits, red berries, and milk powder. Notes of dark chocolate, cotton candy, and florals follow. After the initial taste, the aroma transforms into an otherworldly maple syrup scent, accompanied by coffee and cocoa. The palate presents cherries coated in chocolate. It's incredibly smooth and distinctly wine-like. Sweet prunes are present, alongside Argentinian dulce de leche; remarkably fruity and sweet. The finish is dominated by red fruits and maraschino cherries. Hints of ginger and a sherry explosion. Absolutely magnificent. In conclusion, this may very well be the finest Glenlivet ever produced. Furthermore, the 13yo and 15yo Taiwan exclusives stand as the best Glenlivets ever, no joke. This is the most striking sherry bomb created, setting the benchmark for all other sherry-matured single malts. As you might guess, I awarded this incredible whisky a perfect 100 score. Cheers!!
