Glenglassaugh Peated Port Wood Finish

A refined and wonderfully composed aroma, featuring smoke, fruit, and cream in ideal balance. This lacks the assertive peat often found on Islay; instead, the smoke gently complements sweet strawberries, apples, pears, honey, and ginger. The initial taste is more assertive, though not quite as intricate. White pepper and orange notes are present. A dryness on the palate offers a pleasant counterpoint to the sweetness detected in the aroma. This is a masterfully crafted peated malt, and an excellent choice for guiding others into the realm of smoky whiskies.

Absolutely love it As soon as I put my nose in the glass it reminded me of Lagavulin 16. Sweet smoke which surrounds the sweet fruits, however this sweetness was more present and more separated from the smoke than in Lagavulin. Also Lagavulin, being an Islay scotch has saltiness/brine to it and a little medicinal quality. This has none, this peat smoke is dry and sweet. And this delivers on the palate and finish too. Very great whisky, at a very good price. Totally recommend it

Pink hue. Soft and delicate. A faint hint of rose as the palate concludes. Dry. Ginger. Fine tannin? Would pair well with dark chocolate and licorice?

Full of flavor, yet soft and spicy at the same time, a bit smoky and full of sherry. The nose has hints of vanilla.

Wonderful maple syrup and campfire aromas! This was a Christmas gift from a friend in 2022.
