Devon Sutton 4.0

Glenfiddich has introduced a collection of four travel exclusive releases, termed "the Perpetual Collection," offering a new interpretation of their classic fruity spirits. This is Perpetual Collection No. 2, named "Dark & Rich," which, as anticipated, is matured in sherry casks. Bottled at 43% alcohol by volume, the 'Perpetual' aspect stems from its marriage in a large solera vat that is never fully emptied. On the nose, it presents precisely what one would expect: cinnamon, caramelized red apples, and cherries. After an initial taste, a pronounced floral note emerges. Spicy, with abundant pepper and damp roses. Hints of wet grass. On the palate, it begins with notes of sawdust, red fruits, floral elements, and red apples. It's like a candied apple from a circus. The aftertaste is predominantly spicy in a mild way, featuring pepper and chili. Floral notes and red apple skins are also present. In summary, this is unmistakably a Glenfiddich, delivering its signature floral, fruity, and spicy characteristics. While it's unlikely to revolutionize the whisky experience, it perfectly fulfills its purpose: serving as a travel retail whisky intended for sharing with companions during social gatherings. My rating for this suitable, everyday whisky is 84 out of 100.

Nose carries dark fruity, spicy, and caramel notes. I found the taste on the palate to be rather unbalanced and I think a few more years of aging could have been very beneficial here.

A truly delightful beverage! It's so characteristic of Glenfiddich. Many thanks. 🥃
