About this bottle

GlenDronach distillery brought out this expression to substitute its previously discontinued 14-year single malt. Similar to its predecessor, it is aged and matured in European oak barrels before undergoing a finishing period of approximately one year in used Sauternes barrels. It is bottled at 46% ABV.

Scarlet Self 4.0

I have a fondness for Glendronach, similar to Laphroaig. When I first sampled this alongside several other whiskies, including a Glendronach 14 year Virgin Oak which was considered the best of the night and quickly finished, I didn't find it particularly remarkable. Its flavor profile seemed subdued. However, after allowing it to breathe, it has opened up significantly. Notes of honey, apricot, vanilla, and green apples emerge, accompanied by the characteristic spicy viscosity of Glendronach. I now rate it a 3.75, so considering its price of just over $60 USD, I'll round it up to a 4.

Jameson Herrera 4.5

Initially, it presents notes of molasses and prunes. Following that are hints of vanilla, chocolate, and the floral scent of ylang-ylang.

Sarah Locke 4.0

Dark and rich, very caramel with an oak finish.

Felecia Albert 3.0

Very sweet, sharp aftertaste.
