In 2014, Glendalough, recognized for its whiskeys and poitín, introduced seasonal gins, with one for each time of year. Glendalough Wild Botanical Gin, released in early 2017, combines elements from all four seasons. The intention is for consumers to experience the aroma of spring, the floral notes of summer, the fruits of autumn, and the spices reminiscent of winter. Geraldine Kavanagh forages numerous wild botanicals, which are utilized fresh, not dried, during the distillation process. Note: Packaging was updated starting May 2023. (SRP $32.99)

The aroma is packed with juniper, supported by a slightly malty foundation. The taste is sharp, distinctly evoking winter, pine, and a powerful botanical character. After a few moments, the malt flavor emerges, contributing a substantial body and smooth mouthfeel. The lingering finish sees the juniper persist longer than anything else. An excellent gin choice for crafting a classic Martini.
Nose presents coriander, juniper, elderflower, licorice, mint, and pine bark. The palate echoes the juniper, coriander, and pine bark with strength, joined by sage, more mint, and a whisper of clove. Texture is lightly oily. The finish is lengthy with minimal heat. 3.50/5.00 – Admirable (neat)
Prominent juniper and citrus. Earthy and botanical elements in the body. The alcohol is present around the flavors but not overwhelming. Quite enjoyable served neat or with lemon and tonic.
