Aroma: Floral, nutty, hairspray, stone fruits Taste: Sweet, spicy, fruit (redcurrants & cranberries), wood shavings, orange zest, creamy texture Finish: Lasts a long time. Nutty, blackberries, liquorice, coffee, dark chocolate. Becomes dry on the aftertaste. This differs from the usual sherry-forward spirit expected from GlenAllachie, with less sherry influence and more brandy-like notes. A quite good, though ultimately dry, dram. Finished tied for last place among the six samples, receiving 0% of the vote for favorite of the night. 64% of attendees indicated they enjoyed the whisky. Two outstanding drams dominated the voting, which may have negatively impacted some of the other whiskies.

About this bottle
For the current addition to the Wine Cask Series, Master Blender Billy Walker utilized single malt distilled in 2012, which initially matured in American oak ex-bourbon barrels. He selected casks from four European wineries — one each from Valpolicella and the Languedoc, and two from Bordeaux — that had held red wine. The single malt underwent an additional aging period of over 20 months in these different barriques before Walker combined and bottled the whisky at 48% ABV. This bottling was announced in late January 2023, and global retailers are expected to stock it in the upcoming weeks for £53.99.

10 years old. Plum is a subtle note but with great body. Mineral. On the palate, it's dry with slight astringency. Propolis. Grape pomace. Balanced. A slight acidity is noticeable at the end, though it's mild and short. Great pairing with chocolates.
The aroma is beautiful, the flavor is merely adequate. The wine enhances it.
