GlenAllachie 11 Yr Grattamacco Wine

As a whisky enthusiast with considerable experience, I admit my limited knowledge of wine, mostly gained through whisky maturation. Nevertheless, I can discern between bad, average, and good wines based on personal taste. This GlenAllachie, finished in Grattamacco wine (a Tuscan Cabernet Sauvignon from a small producer), bottled at 48% ABV with a light peach color, offers a delicate, fruity aroma. It starts with gooseberries and a hint of burnt paper, predominantly green grapes, with some acetone (suggesting youth) and a touch of chocolate fudge, evoking a vineyard. After the first sip, the aroma deepens to dark, dried fruits like figs and raisins, very wine-like. The palate feels cool and refreshing, not hot like most whiskies, with prominent gooseberry notes. A mild spiciness emerges after about ten seconds, along with hay and dried grass, giving an earthy, winey character. A second sip revealed lighter raisin flavors. The aftertaste is remarkable, intensely earthy, like an Italian vineyard, with tobacco leaf and crushed grape peels. The long finish resembles consuming a box of raisins. Overall, it felt like a very expensive, high-end wine. A wine sommelier might mistake it for fortified wine. It's fascinating, fresh, and full of unconventional flavors. A great experience, earning a score of 90 out of 100.

This isn't great but has potential if it were aged longer. Young notes of maltiness and acetone mask the faint red wine notes in the background. My first tasting; perhaps it will improve after some air in the bottle.

An abundance of peach notes, reminiscent of peach ring candy. It possesses definite sweetness with some drying characteristics. Flavors include vanilla and butterscotch. It drinks as if it were 43% ABV and is excellent for warm weather. The sweetness is detectable on the nose for an extended period. Quite pleasing.

Small pink flowers, lavender, and red grapes on the nose. Light and fragrant, with a hint of rubber. A unique aroma leading to a finish that quickly returns to wood.

After oxidation, the taste is unpleasant. It's far too young, with only acetone and young barley flavors, lacking any enjoyable notes.
