GlenAllachie 10 Year Cask Strength Batch 6

Nose: Red berries, a hint of smoke (not peat), raisins, and spice. Palate: Dark cherry, chocolate. Ah, there's the cinnamon apple I smelled: similar to Big Red gum. Toffee, dark honey, cardamom, allspice, orange zest. Finish: Mostly spice that lasts, with a pleasant leather and dark chocolate aftertaste. Overall: This drinks like it's 51-52% ABV, not 57%. It's enjoyable and very well-balanced, yet incredibly complex. It's an excellent dram for the price ($94). While Batch 7 is now available, some stores near me still have Batch 6. I'm tempted by the 7, but this was so good I'll buy a few more bottles of Batch 6 before it's gone.

Very good Nose: Raisins, Dates, Sultanas, Milk Chocolate, Honey, Pineapples, Plums, Hazelnuts, Blood Oranges, Chili Peppers, White Chocolate, Coconuts, Watermelons, Licorice, Nutmeg, Cinnamon Palate: Toffee, Guava, Strawberries, Raisins, Dates, Blackberries, Plums, Nutmeg, Treacle, Luxardo Cherries, Papayas Finish: Dates, Sultanas, Raisins, Vanilla, Walnuts, Almonds, Coconuts, Blackberries, Licorice, Strawberries, Prunes, Mocha

The initial impression is its stunning hue – rich gold and bronze. The aroma is full of fruitcake and molasses, and it’s quite nice but doesn’t hint at the powerful impact on the palate – notes of summer berries, spearmint, with undertones of banana and woody spice. It finishes with almond. The aftertaste is lengthy and arid, featuring dried fruit and a persistent, returning sweetness.

First, the color is very dark and golden. Nose is very generous with fruit and chocolate notes. On the palate, it continues, but what's most surprising about this cask strength is the sweetness for a 57.8% ABV. The finish is rather short, with a bit of spice, leather, and almonds.

3.9 Batch 6 Aroma: Sake aroma, musty, dried grapes. Taste: Nutty and has a texture like nut oil, seemingly specialized for the Oloroso type. Red wine notes are present in the finish. The finish is smoother than expected, and the spice is not intense. There wasn't much to note beyond expectations. It hits strongly with its proof, but subtle and interesting notes were hard to find.

Caramel, nutty, and sweet honey on the nose. Sherry, cinnamon, fruity, and a slight nuttiness on the palate. An oily, long finish. Reminiscent of Aberlour A'bunadh.
