Annalise Ho 2.5

Aroma: Gentle, sweet peat smoke, red fruits, vanilla, and a hint of brine. Palate: An immediate, intense, and sharp peat smoke, stronger than the aroma suggested. Sour brine, earth, and bitter tobacco. Water doesn't help, only bringing out sour plastic notes. Finish: Medium to long, smoky and earthy with white orchard fruit flavors that fade into a sour aftertaste. This is a distillery exclusive from the 'Private Cask Collection', from ex-cognac cask #2295. I could smell this whisky all day, but the palate is a letdown. It stood out from other cask-strength options at the distillery, but ultimately, another expression was superior, a fact confirmed by adding water. It only became drinkable when heavily diluted, but still not something I'd purchase or suggest. Tasted at the distillery. Rated 'Average': 75/100 (2.5 stars).
