Alright, here's another from that brand. Looking at an 8-year Speyside for the usual $20, but I got it on sale for $11.99. Yes, 8-year single malt scotch for 12 bucks. Is it great...no. Does it suck...no. The nose smells like young, bubblegum-like new make malt with overripe red fruit. A hint of scotch tape and light oak. The palate is more like adhesive with fruity malt, apple skin, and baking spice sprinkled on a wet piece of wooden furniture. The finish fades the palate and surprisingly isn't an instant drop-off. Left with toothpicks, tape, and malt. It's easy to drink and lacks the bitter grain or even off-putting tannins found in some lesser young scotches. It is undercooked though and not very robust in the flavor department. For what I paid, it's a great palate starter or cheap mixer, and better than bottom-shelf blends. For $20, it's still decent if your wallet is light, but most would be better off upgrading to Monkey Shoulder/Dewar's 12/Naked Malt........78/100
