Glasgow 1770 Cognac Cask Finish (Batch 01)

Nose: Smoked pork, pipe tobacco, sweet dried fruit Palate: Very sweet, mild peat, Demerara sugar, warming spices like clove and cinnamon, dates, dark chocolate, light wood smoke Finish: Long-lasting. Coffee, ginger, malt loaf, sweet, damp peat smoke, BBQ, leather. A faint hint of grape in the aftertaste, though this might be imagined. This expression is defined by its youthful peatiness – soft, gentle, and sweet. The cognac influence is subtle, mainly contributing to the texture and sweetness. Cask details: Barrels 18/963 and 18/964. Virgin American white oak barrels. Filled: March 14, 2018. Transferred to ex-cognac barriques: November 18, 2020. Bottled: June 16, 2022. Limited to 882 bottles. It tied for third place among the six samples, receiving 11% of the votes for favorite of the night. 29% of attendees indicated they enjoyed the whisky.

Nose: Smoky barbecue and cured leaf with a pronounced aroma of lapsang souchong. Palate: Honeyed tea, raisins, and a growing spicy heat. The legs are substantial. Finish: Lingering smoky peat. Rich fruit preserves. Malt character.
