Nose: Distinctive juniper and fresh coriander, with subtle supporting notes of sweet citrus and mint. A classic gin aroma. Palate: Arrives with citrus, fresh and sweet, accompanied by a hint of liquorice. Less juniper-forward than the nose suggested, but still present. The texture is good, with orris root noticeable and an overall sweet profile (though not excessively sweet like an Old Tom) balanced by mild pepper. Finish: Short, featuring citrus with an underlying herbal/spice character. No unpleasant metallic or hot sensations. It's approachable, refreshing, and aligns perfectly with a classic gin profile. Nothing surprising here, so it neither excites nor offends. You can buy it confidently, knowing it will perform well in any application. This gin gives the impression of extensive research and development aimed at creating the ultimate, inoffensive, widely appealing gin, and the distillers succeeded admirably. It's enjoyable neat and excellent in a G&T. While I didn't try it in a martini, I imagine it would be successful. However, its value at the price is questionable. Despite being AUD$56, it's a 500ml bottle, meaning it competes with higher-end gins rather than mainstream ones. In that category, it falls far short. Sampled from a 30ml pour.
