GERMANA SOUL

This cachaça's origins trace back to 1912 in José de Melo, now Nova União, Minas Gerais. The creator, Sérgio Caetano, began making it in a small farm still for personal use, following his parents' practice. The Germana brand draws inspiration from a nun of that name, who drew many visitors to the Serra da Piedade Sanctuary in Caeté early in the 19th century. These people sought remedies using cachaça and herbs. In 1988, the ten Caetano siblings, who now own shares in the Germana Group, joined the leadership of the Minas Gerais Association of Quality Cachaça Producers (AMPAQ), an initiative that started in Minas and expanded across Brazil. From the outset, this project aimed to elevate cachaça to the same standing as other global distilled spirits. To boost the Caetano brothers' efforts and reach more drinkers, they established Brazil's first cachaça bar in Belo Horizonte in 1989, called Alambique Cachaçaria e Armazém, which marked 25 successful years in 2014. The Germana Group currently has 200 staff members across its businesses, all focused on cachaça. This classic label has earned multiple accolades in domestic and international contests and is kept by discerning consumers in Brazil and abroad. Cachaça is sold in every Brazilian state and shipped to eight nations. Crafted by hand using copper stills, Germana is available in five varieties, differing in storage location, aging duration, and wood type. Cachaça Germana Soul is an unaged, mellow spirit at 40% ABV, created specifically for caipirinhas, mixed drinks, and cocktails. It also appeals to those who enjoy chilled, thick, and smooth white cachaça. For this, it's suggested to keep it continuously in the freezer, yielding a cool, mild sugarcane scent and taste. Its name, Soul, reflects the product's unadulterated, original state, as it's produced and immediately stored in stainless steel tanks.

Light grassy, earthy, and funky notes. The mouthfeel is lighter than other sugar cane rums I've experienced. It's decent, but lacks enough character to be a memorable sipper.
