The dedication to our craft and the relentless pursuit of excellence characterize the guiding principles of the Vale Verde Group. Its founder, Luiz Otávio Pôssas Gonçalves, has dedicated over five decades to the beverage industry. His career began with Coca-Cola bottling in Minas Gerais, and he is also recognized for developing Kaiser beer and Kero Coco, the first ready-to-drink coconut water in Brazil, while continuing his entrepreneurial ventures in the sector. The establishment of Vale Verde was a gradual process, initiated when Luiz Otávio was gifted a small still by his uncle, sparking his interest in the cachaça market. Initially, the limited production was shared exclusively among acquaintances. However, the recognition from connoisseurs and the superior quality of the distillate paved the way for commercialization. The Vale Verde brand was launched in 1985. During this period, Luiz Otávio explored new methodologies to enhance the fermentation and distillation processes. In Europe, he observed that techniques employed in fine whiskey production could be adapted for cachaças. Applying European expertise, Vale Verde Extra Premium was developed, aged for three years and adhering to the same production standards as international spirits, utilizing methods that ensure the drink's distinctive quality and taste. Vale Verde cachaça subsequently garnered numerous awards, leading to increased recognition across Brazil. The estate, upholding its production traditions, began attracting a significant number of visitors, giving rise to the Vale Verde Ecological Park in 2002. This facility houses approximately 1,300 animals, including birds, reptiles, and mammals. The property, known as the Cachaça Theme Park, located in Betim, within the Belo Horizonte Metropolitan Area, Minas Gerais, offers a variety of recreational and adventure activities for families. Visitors can observe the complete production cycle of Vale Verde cachaças, which is 100% sustainable, and explore the Cachaça Museum, showcasing the drink's history from ancient Egypt. The museum features over two thousand distinct labels, in addition to the entire Vale Verde brand collection. Although the park is no longer accessible to the public, the Vale Verde Group remains focused on achieving sustainable growth. With the six tons of sugarcane processed daily during harvest, approximately 140,000 liters of cachaça were produced in 2014. A portion of the sugarcane residue was utilized as fuel for production machinery, while the remainder served as organic fertilizer for the sugarcane fields. The production of Cachaça Vale Verde Extra Premium 1000ml is entirely artisanal, with its Extra Premium designation validated by the Ministry of Agriculture, which oversees the barrel sealing and opening procedures. Subsequently, cachaças are aged for three to twelve years in oak vats, with an alcohol content of 40%. Another quality assurance measure involves process audits conducted by Inmetro, the agency that grants Vale Verde its certification seal. Source: Cachaçaria Nacional.
