About this bottle

Germain-Robin Brandy, an American brand established in 1982, employs cognac production techniques and utilizes grapes grown in California. E.J. Gallo Winery acquired the brand in 2017. Co-founder Hubert Germain-Robin collaborated with Gallo's master distiller David Warter on this re-release of the flagship expression. Primarily made from California colombard grapes, it is distilled in an alambic still and aged for seven years in French Limousin oak. The 2020 release is limited to 1400 six-pack cases.

Nona Holloway 3.5

The aroma has notes of floral caramel and grapes. Caramel continues on the palate, heading in a cognac direction. It's light and silky with a mild finish. Very easy to drink, not overly complex. A good shelf option at the right price.

Vicente Cagle 3.8

A respectable brandy, heavily influenced by oak and barrel aging, which provides a nice contrast to the sweetness of the pure grape distillate. Considering the cost, it's not a great value; otherwise, it would be a winner.

Aden Weiler 4.3

What brandy ought to be: tannins without the pressed grape solids.
