About this bottle

The Fuenteseca 18-year expression is a combination of tequila distilled in copper double-column stills (75%) and copper alembic stills (25%). The spirit initially matured for six years in Canadian white oak casks that previously held Canadian rye whiskey, situated at an altitude of 4,600 feet in Atotonilco el Alto. Subsequently, the tequila was transferred, blended, and re-casked, with some portions aging in Canadian white oak (47%) and the remainder in European oak barrels that had held California red wine (53%). The barrels were then relocated to the cooler environment of El Chapingo for an additional twelve years of maturation. The tequila is bottled at 43.5% ABV.

Alyce Stoddard 5.0

Tasted this alongside Siembra Azul Blanco and Fortaleza Reposado winter blend. Incredible stuff, as expected from this producer. It has flavors of Vanilla, Chocolate, Berries, Cooked Agave, Mint, Cinnamon, Anise, Maple, Marshmallow, Rye Spice, oak, cloves, flowers, apple, cherries, and herbs. After trying the blanco, 8 year, 12 year, 15 year, and this one, my ranking is 12, 18, 15, 8, blanco. I still need to try the 21, which presents my greatest tequila challenge yet.
