Flor de Caña Añejo Clásico 5 Rum

My reviews are not based on taste, but on whether I would waste money on a bottle or save it for something superior. This is terrible. I worked as a mixologist & VIP bartender for many years. Smells like gasoline, tastes like gasoline & causes an immediate migraine hangover. Perhaps it's just me. Straight on rocks is like gasoline. With cola it's still bad. With sprite it did not improve the offensive notes, tasting only of methylated spirits.

Aromas of toffee, vanilla, nutmeg, and orange zest. The palate features distinct notes of butterscotch and almond, alongside more nutmeg and orange zest. It has a round mouthfeel. The finish is a bit short, with a mild burn. 2.75/5.00 – Decent (neat)

Initially, it held up reasonably well, but that's due to its overpowering and rather unrefined flavor. Could be used in small amounts with Tonic, Mineral, or Citrus soda.

Not the best flavor globally. It's certainly not for sipping straight, but it would likely work fine mixed with sprite or ginger ale.

Aroma of botanicals over wood, with noticeable esters. A bit rough, making it better for cocktails than solo sipping.

It’s straightforward and smooth. Not much going on. But it did get sweeter as it sat out.
