My first experience with jenever was at a small seafood spot in Amsterdam called Brut De Mer. Visit it if you have the chance. The bartender allowed me to try both jonge and oude. If you enjoy añejo or reposado tequila, you'll prefer oude jenever. This one has the character of a fine, woody gin that has been filtered through a stroopwafel. Delicious!

About this bottle
This product, like the 15-year Oude Jenever from Filliers, is based on a malt-wine mixture comprising 50% rye and 50% malted barley. Seventy-five percent of this is matured for 12 years in American oak, while the remaining portion undergoes 12 years of aging in French Limousin oak. Juniper distillate is incorporated before bottling. This limited edition is sold at 38% ABV and is available in several European nations.
