Fettercairn 15 Year Old Particular (Douglas Laing)

(Good Spirits Co. Glasgow Virtual Whisky Tasting, July 9, 2020). Distilled: November 2004, Bottled: November 2019. A limited release of 355 bottles. Nose: Sweet, with notes of summer berries and apricots. Palate: Honey is upfront, followed by light malt, pears, barley sugar candies, and a subtle woodiness. It evokes the taste of a hot toddy. Finish: Honey, orange peel, and caramelized ginger appear at the end, with a very faint sourness in the aftertaste. Overall, it's quite light and not heavily influenced by wood. This is an elegant, delicate whisky that is remarkably easy to drink without any challenge. It placed fifth out of six malts tasted that evening, receiving 5% of the votes for favorite. Being the lightest whisky, it might have performed better in a different lineup with fewer robust or peated options.
