Henri Vallet, an immigrant from France, arrived in Mexico in the mid-1800s and began producing various liqueurs not commonly found in the region, including this fernet at 35% ABV. The blend of potent spices, roots, and leaves is still prepared following Vallet’s original 19th-century formula. The bottle's label suggests its use in both cocktails and culinary applications.

Rich and spicy. It's intriguing to try a fernet that expresses its origin so well. On the nose, there are hints of smoke, earth, spice, and plenty of cardamom. The palate finishes with a pleasant, light menthol that doesn't linger too long. While it feels oily initially, that sensation fades fast. However, if fernet isn't your thing, I'd pass on this one.
Bitter and woody, with prunes on the nose. Surprisingly little finish, but pleasant burnt undertones while drinking.
