Dewey Hite 3.8

An unexpectedly good and overlooked whisky for the price. I would normally rate this a 3.5 but have increased it to 3.75 due to its value. It could even score 4+ for whisky-forward cocktails (excellent in an old fashioned). The aroma is sweet honey and vanilla, very reminiscent of Speyside. Perhaps some green apple notes are present. The taste is very sweet and syrupy on the palate with cereal notes and a slightly spicy finish, likely due to its youth. A small addition of water reveals oak on the nose and smoke in the finish. It's subtle but adds some depth to an otherwise simple yet enjoyable dram. One of the finest budget whiskies available. My new default choice for a "daily" Old Fashioned or a tumbler on the rocks on a warm day.

I sampled this neat in Spain, wanting to try local whiskies. It's certainly decent, especially considering its very low price. While it can't compete with more expensive international whiskies for me, it likely surpasses much of its competition within its own price range.

Ansley Bender 3.8

Remarkable find! I ordered it directly from Spain and must say, for its price point, it's among the finest whiskies I've tasted. It has a beautiful light color, a stunning aroma, and a pleasant palate with semi-bold yet smooth characteristics.
