Dry Fly Specialty Barrel Straight Washington Wheat Whiskey (Euro Oak Aged)

Cask strength wheated whiskey. You might be surprised. Welcome to Washington Whiskey. It's quite reckless for Dry Fly to produce a whiskey over 130 proof that drinks like it's 110. Perhaps the rules are different in the Pacific Northwest. How can you have a top-notch nose and a fleeting, pleasant finish? The palate is amazing and uniquely woody. I'm shocked. At around $55, it's dangerous if a beginner tries this and thinks it's ordinary whiskey. Keep this secured like a controlled substance. Specialty barrel, 7 years old, 132.8 proof.

Nose: Subtle. Caramel, freshly cut wood, licorice. Palate: Leans sweet, the proof really stands out here. Finish: Berry compote. Intriguing. Not a lot of distinct flavors. Rated 4 on the t8ke scale.

Sampled the 9-year-old, 138 proof bottling. It has a strong impact but is also one of the smoothest high-proof spirits I've encountered. Sweet, wheaty, and robustly grainy. Enjoyable, but handle with care!

A pleasantly smooth whiskey. During a whiskey cruise, when I inquired about purchasing it, the response was that it's unavailable. Why feature a product that isn't locally distributed?

Fans of WLW, Stagg Jr, or JD Coy Hill will appreciate this. A strong contender for my top 5 bourbons of 2022 early on.
