Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin with California Orange Citrus

This gin was created inspired by the distillery founder's travels to the western United States, where he found the intense flavors of California oranges. Recognizing how these flavors could enhance the complex layers of fresh citrus, oriental botanicals, and gunpowder tea in his gin, the founder decided to include them in a new variation of the classic Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin. The spirit is made at The Shed Distillery and combines eight pot still and four vapor-infused botanicals sourced from China with the vibrant, exotic, and refreshing Californian Orange Citrus. Smell/Nose: The aroma isn't as strong as one might expect from a 43% ABV gin with light citrus notes. Taste: neat, it wasn't impressive - fairly mild, but not vibrant, juniper is barely noticeable, and there are indeed some tea notes. It was best with pineapple juice - it developed very interestingly there. Finish: medium with tea notes and light citrus. Overall Impression: you should definitely try it; it's completely enjoyable and a little out of the ordinary. And I appreciate the bottle's design.

The citrus is distinct, almost like pure orange zest rather than sweet citrus. Enjoyable with tonic water.
