GWR Drumlish Poitín I realized I had previously assigned a rating to this spirit but had not provided a detailed review. It's time to correct that omission. *AROMA: Sweet Buttercream Icing. Toasted Dry Wheat/Whole Grain. Fruity Pebbles Cereal. Powdered Sugar Coated Lemon Bars. Slightly Vegetal. *NEAT: The aroma translates surprisingly well to the palate. Fruity Pebbles. Malt Grain. Toasted Dry Wheat/Whole Grain. Agave. Black Pepper. A drying finish with a sweet and peppery coating. *CONCLUSION: A unique mash bill featuring malted barley and wheat, presented at 100 proof. It's surprisingly sweet. Excellent served chilled from the freezer or on ice. It serves well as a substitute in recipes calling for Silver Tequila, Rum, or Vodka. It pairs nicely with Tonic or simply a splash of Club Soda. I actually rate this higher than its aged counterpart, Quinn's (although I believe if Quinn's were aged a bit longer, it would be just as enjoyable as this one).

Founder Ollie Mulligan hails from Ireland, the country that inspired the name of this spirit, which honors Ollie's grandfather and his alleged illicit poitín production in the Irish town of Drumlish. This unaged poitín is crafted from barley and wheat and presented at 50% ABV.

What a distinctive find! I find this quite pleasant and fruity, with prominent barley characteristics. My sibling dislikes it, but I find it rather delightful.
