Driftless Glen Small Batch Rye Whiskey

SMALL BATCH # // 12 NEAT NOSE - Light Caramel, Vanilla, and Pears. As it sits in the glass, the pear fades and a cherry note appears. PALATE - Smooth and easy to drink. Absolutely no spice. This is clearly a rye for bourbon drinkers. Delicate Caramel with hints of vanilla. No fruit on the palate. FINISH - Short. BUY? Yes. Uncomplicated, but good at an accessible price. BUY AGAIN? - Yes, but I want a single barrel or cask strength version!

A very good rye, sweeter than I anticipated for a rye and not as peppery in the finish as most.

This rye is considerably more mellow than others I have encountered. Quite decent spirit.

Caramel scent and a bright, floral, spicy flavor.

Lacks sufficient spice or intensity.
