The consistency is like chocolate sauce, perfect for pouring over ice cream. What truly defines a "double-chocolate" liqueur when there's no industry standard for chocolate content? I'm being sarcastic, naturally, as the maker implies it's simply very thick and chocolatey, achieving its intended goal. It's enjoyable, and while there are no significant flaws or off-flavors, I have two reservations. Firstly, its aroma and flavor profile are quite basic. It delivers chocolate as promised, but the finest chocolate liqueurs possess subtle secondary notes like vanilla, hazelnut, or almond. This one lacks depth and complexity in comparison. Secondly, the palate presents a distinct two-stage experience. First, chocolate, then shortly after, a pronounced alcohol note. Leading chocolate liqueurs (such as Mozart Gold) integrate their alcohol seamlessly, making it unnoticeable. However, despite this being only 1% ABV higher than Mozart Gold, the alcohol is evident and somewhat harsh.
