Annamarie Ford 1.8

Appearance: Deep brown/grey, appearing olive-drab in some light. It resembles muddy water with an oily sheen. Aroma: Milk chocolate. Flavor and Texture: Very sugary milk chocolate with a hint of caramel, tasting like candy. The texture is thick, syrupy, and overly rich. We picked this up last weekend from a temporary market where a limoncello was also purchased. It's from the same producers (Cello), marketed as "Dolce by Cello," part of their lower-proof, milk-based liqueur line. The color is strange and unappealing, unlike the thumbnail image, being more grey-green. While likely natural, a touch of dark brown coloring might have improved its look. The taste is pleasant but common. Being milk-based, it might use condensed milk, or a caramelization process during pasteurization is responsible for the browned milk notes. It's uninspired. While I'd prefer to be more positive, this is a mediocre product at a high price. It costs nearly double that of Mozart Gold, and the quality difference is akin to Hershey's versus Lindt. "Inferior": 68/100 (1.75 stars)
