Sylvia Reeder 3.5

An elegant, Aged Gin from Destilería Colombiana in Cartagena, Colombia. It's made from sugarcane, and while the botanical blend is a mystery, it includes juniper, citrus zest, florals, and their unique ingredient: Limon Mandarino. It's distilled five times and then aged for 35 months in casks that previously held Rum. It begins with a fragrant bouquet of sawdust, burnt orange peel, tangerine, citrus zest, lemon, mandarin, pine, mint, and berries, along with oak. The palate is lively with notes of citrus, redcurrant, pink peppercorn, herbs, and smoked toffee. It concludes with a medium-length spicy finish featuring savory notes, salted caramel, and agave syrup. August 2020

I've recently started drinking gin, preferring vodka. However, this is my favorite so far. The barrel aging wonderfully enhances this pale amber spirit, which is complex yet well-balanced. Other well-known gins in this price range seem dull in comparison.

I'm not typically a gin drinker, but this is rather pleasant. A subtle rum barrel influence and a lovely peppery spice. This is high quality. Enjoyed with a friend.
