Nose: Rich, full-bodied, with notes of raisins and sherry. It's challenging to find a blended whisky with such character on the nose! Palate: They are correct in describing it as velvety. It is exceptionally velvety and silky! So much so that it seems to be 40% ABV rather than 46%! It goes down wonderfully, you consume it more than drink it…. Raisins and sherry, floral honey, with a light smoke from embers and peat. A unique process for a unique whiskey. Finish: Very brief, but perfectly balanced and velvety. The aroma is mellow, featuring creamy vanilla alongside a slight kick of white pepper. Hints of oak, hay, and a touch of barley sugar sweetness complete the profile. The pronounced intensity suggests significant aging. This bottling encapsulates every desirable note one might seek in a blended Scotch. The palate enters smoothly, coating the mouth with creamy oak and vanilla, hay, subtle smoke, and honey, balanced by just enough sweetness. There's a pleasing depth, making it quite satisfying for what it is. The finish is moderately long and substantial, marked by a gentle, persistent pepperiness, along with notes of oak and hay that linger on the palate before slowly receding. This is a fantastic and accessible bottling for an aged Scotch, delivering across numerous elements. While not overly intricate, the flavors present are rich, deep, and thoroughly enjoyable.

This is certainly expensive. $110 for a 375 ml bottle. At that price, it should be exceptional. The initial aroma is quite pleasant with caramel and dried fruit. The taste doesn't quite match the aroma or the cost. It is undeniably an incredibly smooth Scotch. The signature smoke is mellowed and the warmth is gradual. I'd say this is likely the finest bottle of Scotch I'll ever acquire, but I'm uncertain if I'd indulge again.

People raved about the 18, 21, and 25 year old expressions. Honestly, I don't think any of them were particularly noteworthy, with the exception of this 27 year old. It's a great pour, well worth the $50 price for a 375ml bottle. However, if you have the funds and desire something phenomenal in the 20+ year category of single malt and blended Scotch, there are many better options available before I would recommend this.

This Scotch possesses one of the finest finishes I've encountered, exceptionally smooth; I only wish it lingered longer! The price is appropriate for a 27-year-old, even as a half bottle. The higher alcohol content was certainly a positive for me. I found it more pleasing than the Macallan Rare Cask.
